Who doesn't love a summer market? Lemonade, food trucks, kids and parents shopping for one of a kind items... sounds just about perfect for a day when the wind isn't blowing 20mph with gusts in the 30's! We were so thankful to meet the wonderful people who braved the wind chill, rain splatters and an otherwise unkind, gray day in Jersey City, NJ.
If you don't know anything about Jersey City - well, the market is called 6th Borough for a reason. Jersey City is just across the Hudson from NYC and home to a community of dwellers who pride themselves on originality, creativity, urban grit, world class food, and proximity to Manhattan.
I'd say a majority of the people who live in Jersey City work in Manhattan. With the Path Train and ferry boats shuttling folks back and forth day and night, Jersey City is a destination for people priced out of the other 5 boroughs.
We lived in Jersey City so of course we had to make our debut at the 6th Borough Market. And, what a debut! May in New Jersey is iffy... and the weather didn't cooperate... but we made it work until the tents were blowing away.
